<abstract xml:lang="ru">

Epidural spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in patients with spinal cord injury has progressed from a theoretical and experimental concept to a clinically applicable treatment approach. Studies conducted over the past decade, combining neuromodulation with locomotor rehabilitation, have demonstrated significant improvements in postural control and mobility in patients with paraplegia.

Experimental modelling of spinal cord pathway recovery in animals has contributed to a better understanding of the potential for improvement in human locomotor dysfunction. The level, severity, and chronicity of spinal cord injury do not necessarily preclude motor recovery when epidural stimulation is synchronized with the phases of gait and combined with regular rehabilitation training.
